Full Description

A sub-circular ditched feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs at Fisher's Bottom, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The feature comprises a sub-circular area of disturbed ground approximately 38.7m long by 28m deep and abutted by a historic trackway on its east side. The feature may be an extractive pit of probable post medieval date. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The feature is still visible on 2002 Google Earth imagery (2).
