Full Description
A series of low scarped lynchets are visible as linear and curvilinear earthworks on aerial photographs taken to the southwest of West Woods Farm, Rampisham [1, 2]. The features run loosley parallel on a SW-NE alignment, broadly perpendicular to the historic field pattern but corresponding with the strongest linear boundaries, such as roads or primary field divisions. They may be field boundaries or lynchets of medieval or earlier date and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. The features are still visible on Google Earth imagery.
