Summary

Curvilinear banks and lynchets associated with a late prehistoric field system (NRHE Hob UID 195880) are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery taken on the south side of Castle Hill, Cattistock. Some features may be later, perhaps medieval to post medieval, boundaries and/or trackways. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.

Full Description

Field system. Surveyed by RCHME Salisbury field staff, 1987. <2> Curvilinear banks and lynchets associated with a late prehistoric field system (NRHE Hob UID 195880) are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery taken on the south side of Castle Hill, Cattistock <1, 3>. Some features may be later, perhaps medieval to post medieval, boundaries and/or trackways. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. The features are still visible on Google Earth imagery.
