Roman quarries, pits, and finds including pottery and a brooch, located east of Lake Roman fort. The quarries were probably used for the construction of roads within the fort.

Full Description
SY 995992. In July 1988 a sewer pipe trench was constructed through part of Lake Roman fort and the field adjacent to its East. The latter revealed extensive Roman activity and included possible Roman quarries, used for the construction of roads within the fort. Several large pits up to 2.5m deep were also recorded. Pottery including amphorae, decorated Samion and Corfe Mullen flagons, and a bronze brooch were recovered. <1>
HER note: this record was created from NRHE data. The NGR cited by the NRHE is not near the Lake Roman fort. Possibly error due to a typo in the NRHE or PDNHAS.
