Site of a World War II auxiliary unit operational base recorded at Church Hill, north east of Alton Pancras. It was constructed in 1940-41 and by 1949 was considered to be in a dangerous condition. The precise location and condition of the site is uncertain.

Full Description

TDW/1156 (Ministry of Town and Country Planning reference). Cassini grid 41/12 SE 148246. Underground shelter considered for destruction as public danger, 1949. 'Extremely difficult to find. About 20-25 ft off track leading from gate to wood. Follow track 30ft N from gate, then 70ft W'. Church Hill, NE of Alton Pancras. <1>
