Full Description
On the N. tip of Henning Hill, at 75950197, is a pentagonal enclosure, probably an altered 'Celtic' field about 1/3 acre in area, delimited by a massive lynchet on the N., a low bank 13 ft wide on the E. and traces of bank or lynchet elsewhere. Poor remains of 'Celtic' fields lie around it. <1>
Visible on RAF air photographs. <2>
ST 75950197. A somewhat dubious enclosure which appears to be simply an adaption of a pentagonal area formed by 'Celtic' field bounds. Its age, and purpose, seem entirely speculative. Not visible on OS air photographs <3.1>. Fragmentary remains of 'Celtic' fields extend intermittently eastwards along the north facing escarpment edge of Henning Hill.
Divorced survey at 1:2500 for AO records only., 3>
