(ST771117. Plumber DMV sited to Plumber Manor from OS 10000 1982)<2> Situated tongue of Lydlinch parish, which suggests that it may once have been a parish in its own right, Plumber is first mentioned in Domesday when it was assessed at 5 hides <1.1>. Two important old roads, from Bulbarrow to Stalbridge, and from Okeford Fitzpaine to Bishop's Caundle pass through Plumber. <1>
