Field Systems taken from air photographs, 1949 by R J C Atkinson. <1> Centred at ST 830063. A field system with field banks and lynchets forming small irregular enclosures of Iron Age/Romano-British type. The system is not pronounced and is best seen on the air photographs. In the field to the north-east of Hedge End Farm the system is under pasture, but to the south-east the ground is ploughed. <2> Traces of Iron Age/Romano-British 'Celtic' fields extend north from Winterborne Stickland. (Shown on RCHM plan to be part of the area delineated by Authy 2) see also ST 80 NW 19. <3>
