Summary
The building housing Poole County and Magistrates’ Court was built in 1969 and was designed by an architect unknown at the time of this record’s construction. The Law Courts are located in a civic building complex that also houses a Police Station, Jobcentre and Municipal Buildings. The building consists of five storeys; the ground floor houses two Magistrates’ Courts (Court Two is also a Youth Court) and a County Court chamber. The first floor houses solicitors and interview rooms, the second floor houses another Magistrates’ Court. The third floor contains County Court offices, Bailiff’s Office and a District Judges’ chamber. There is a decorative mosaic at the entrances of the courtrooms on the ground floor. The building is made up of brick and stone panel cladding surrounding a concrete frame. The roof of the building is flat. As of 2012 it is understood that this building is being considered for disposal.
