Full Description
Ditched linear features on the north western edge of Launceston Down, Tarrant Launceston, are visible as ditched earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features run from north to south across the down, cutting through a later prehistoric linear earthwork (MDO43815). The features are considered to be post medieval trackways, possibly associated with a post medieval quarry to the north, although it is possible that two of the linear ditches running south alongside the prehistoric linear earthwork are part of this earlier feature.
The features are no longer visible on 2001 APGB imagery. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
