Full Description
An area of post medieval water meadow to the northeast of Luton Farm, Tarrant Monkton, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The water meadow extends for a distance of just under 400m along the River Tarrant, to the northeast of Luton Farm, comprising a linked system of channels and sluices, forming bedworks. A further area of water meadow to the southwest in Tarrant Rawston (MDO43824) may be a continuation of this feature. The main water channels and sluice system is recorded on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 map. The feature is no longer visible on current lidar imagery.
The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
