Monument record MDO44046 - Later prehistoric field system, Pamphill
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
An extensive system of banked field boundaries is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery. The system covers an area of over 25 hectares within Pamphill to the east of the Roman road (MDO43946) and north of Lodge Farm. The lynchets underlie the modern field pattern and are on a different alignment suggesting a much earlier date. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

The lynchets underlie the modern field pattern and are on a different alignment suggesting a much earlier date. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project and are likely to be a continuation of the field system described in MDO41817.
