The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as a part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The post was found to be in a good condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. <1> All surface features remain intact with the green paint in good condition. An aerial bracket and metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. The site is located underground in an overgrown rectangular compound on the north west side of a sharp right angle bend in Downs Lane. 10 yards south of a disused lime kiln beside the road. <2> No contacts were listed on the NRHE website under UID 1414166.
