Summary
A sub-oval ditched hollow is visible as an earthwork in a field to the west of Tarrant Rushton, in Tarrant Rawston parish, on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is considered likely to be a post-medieval chalk pit and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description
A sub-oval ditched hollow is visible as an earthwork in a field to the west of Tarrant Rushton, in Tarrant Rawston parish, on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The feature is considered likely to be a post-medieval chalk pit. A small copse of trees is shown at this location on the OS 1st Edition c1880 map, although no pit or quarry is doumented [2]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
