Full Description

St. Laurence's Church, mentioned in the Sarum Register of 1381, when it was valued at #9; in the valor of 1534; and in the Nona Rolls, the List of Rectors being from 1320 to 1514. The church was situated at the corner of St. Laurence, formerly Bell Street. It was converted into a barn and was sold as such under the Earl of Pembroke's will in 1650. With the barn was sold "a parcel of land adjoining, on which the tower formerly stood". The converted remains were pulled down in 1776, and the Methodist meeting house built on the site. <1> The building is of stone and no visible trace remains of the Medieval church. <3> St. Laurence's Church, first mentioned in 1297, was gone by 1800, its site is now occupied by a Methodist Church. <4>
