Summary
A post medieval chalk quarry and trackway are visible as earthworks to the east of Pimperne on 1940s aerial photographs and on Environment Agency lidar imagery. An 'old quarry' is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, with the trackway accessing the quarry from the road to the northwest. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description
A post medieval chalk quarry and trackway are visible as earthworks to the east of Pimperne on 1940s aerial photographs and on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature comprises a roughly triangular depression, with lidar suggesting a linear extension to the northeast, along the hedgeline. A trackway is visible on a 1944 aerial photograph, accessing the quarry from the road to the northwest [1]. The quarry is shown as 'old quarry' is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map; the trackway is also recorded [3]. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. [1, 2].
