Full Description
Linear ditched features are visible as cropmarks to the east of Blandford Camp, Tarrant Monkton, on aerial photographs [1]. The features may comprise a 445m long north to south aligned trackway, with a fork at its southern end, and possible field boundaries of Iron Age to Roman date - possibly associated with an area of settlement (MDO5105) to the east and an area of further enclosures and settlement of probable Iron Age to Roman date (MDO42508 and MDO44561) to the south. The features overlie part of an earlier field system visible largely on lidar imagery, and it is possible that some of the linear ditches are alternatively associated with this, as they closely correspond in places [2]. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
