Monument record MDO44634 - Malthouse, Broadwindsor
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Site of a `malthouse and dwelling' shown on the Tithe apportionment of 1840 when it was owned by Robert Barfoot and occupied by Charles Wall. It is not documented in the later 19th century trade directories. The Tithe Map shows a chevron-shaped building on the south-west side of Broadwindsor Square. The centre section apparently survives intact on the corner. Cottages now occupy the west end but appear to be inserted under an earlier roof. `London House' now occupying the south end may be the original dwelling house or later.
