Monument record MDO44635 - Lynchet, Wimborne St Giles
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
North western end of a positive lynchet characterised by the presence of a mound at either end. Note that MDO6382 represents the south eastern half of the lynchet with its own associated mound. Presumably part of a field system. Was recorded by Grinsell in his gazetteer of bowl barrows but described by him as "apparently one end of a positive lynchet". Both "mounds" had previously been marked on Ordnance Survey maps as "tumuli".
