Summary
A small unannotated hollow is marked on the Ordnance Survey 5th edition map to the south of Free Down Border, Durweston. The hollow forms part of a much larger subcircular bank and ditched feature which is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. The feature appears to be a large multivallate enclosure but is nost likely to be the plough-levelled remains of a large post medieval quarrying complex.

Full Description
A small unannotated hollow is marked on the Ordnance Survey 5th edition map to the south of Free Down Border, Durweston [1]. The hollow forms part of a much larger subcircular bank and ditched feature which is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery [2-3] and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. The feature is 150m across and appears to be a large multivallate enclosure but is most likely to be the plough-levelled remains of a large post medieval quarrying complex.
