Full Description

Roman antefix found at Cattistock and given by Mr Kellaway of W. Knighton Acc No. 1944.26.1 The antefix is of terracotta; the top half is missing. Longest Diameter. 4 1/4". <1> No further information was obtainable at the Dorset Co. Museum during recording, or in the field. It seems likely that this object is associated with the Ro. villa (site unknown) of Cattistock. [SY 59 NE 14]. <2> A Roman antefix with winged, bearded head, from Cattistock, SY5999, is in Dorchester Museum. <3>
