Summary

A subcircular mound with outer ditch is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery within Old Warren Plantation, Bryanston. The feature is of uncertain date and function, it is morphologically similar to a Bronze Age round barrow; however it's close proximity to two pillow mounds and a probable rabbit warren may indicate a medieval or post medieval rabbit-farming-related origin. The site was digitally recorded from lidar imagery during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.

Full Description

A subcircular mound 8m across with outer ditch is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery [1] within Old Warren Plantation, Bryanston. The feature is of uncertain date and function, it is morphologically similar to a Bronze Age round barrow; however it's close proximity to two pillow mounds and a probable rabbit warren may indicate a medieval or post medieval rabbit-farming-related origin. The site was digitally recorded from lidar imagery during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.
