Summary

A series of public walks situated on the course of the Roman town defences. There are six tree-lined walks, covering an area of seven hectares. These were created around 1712 when the defensive embankments were flattened to form tree lined promenades or walks. The walks comprise North Walk, Colliton Walk, West Walks, Bowling Alley Walk, South Walks, Gallows Hill and Salisbury Walk.
