Full Description
A trackway is visible as cropmarks to the east of Tarrant Rushton Airfield, Tarrant Rushton, on a 1980 aerial photograph [1]. The southern end of the trackway angles southwest and continues as a trackway or hollow way recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, heading southwestwards across Abbeycroft Down, still visible on Google Earth imagery dated 1945. At its northern end, the trackway splits with one arm heading west and another east, along the south side of the former Walls Cottages. The cropmark feature suggests possible banked earthworks along part of the feature, which may indicate a hollow way in places. The trackway is undated but may be post medieval or earlier in date. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
