Full Description

Part of a banked field system and an associated hollow way or trackway is visible as cropmarks and earthworks to the northwest of Hemsworth, Witchampton, on a 1980 aerial photograph and on current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The linear banks visible on lidar imagery form partial rectilinear enclosures on a southeast-northwest alignment. A hollow way or trackway is visible as cropmarks and earthworks heading across fields to the southwest and following between parallel banks on its north and south sides, which appear to be an integral part of the field system. The features may be later prehistoric in date, but may alternatively have a later, possibly medieval origin. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
