Monument record MDO45631 - Possible medieval ridge and furrow, Lytchett Matravers
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
An area of parallel ridged cultivation marks are visible to the east of Lytchett Matravers as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are wide and curving and may be those of medieval broad ridge and furrow, although a later date is also possible - the ridges appear to potentially cross two post medieval extractive pits (MDO45593) on an aerial photograph dated 1946. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
