Monument record MDO45670 - Prehistoric field system, Gussage St Michael
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Traces of "Celtic" fields recorded on air photographs to the north of the southwest terminal of the Dorset Cursus (Linear 41). Although not mentioned in the RCHME Dorset Inventory, the later Bokerley Dyke volume notes traces of "Celtic" fields centred on circa ST 972132. This is slightly north of the grid references noted by the Ordnance Survey, who appear to depict the field traces slightly further south and overlapping the Cursus. Their relationship with the multiple ditched linear ST 91 SE 41 is unclear.
