Monument record MDO45685 - Historic lynchets or trackways, Lytchett Matravers
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Several banked and ditched linear features are visible as earthworks to the east of Lytchett Matravers on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are of uncertain date - they are located within a field shown as rough ground on historic OS mapping and form a series of banked lynchets with ditches in between. They may be trackways or field boundaries/cultivation lynchets of potentially medieval to post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
