Please read our .

Summary

Two areas of ridged cultivation marks on the east side of Notting Hill, Sturminster Marshall, are visible as faint earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are broad and curving and may be those of ridge and furrow cultivation of potentially medieval date, although a later origin is also possible. Two linear ditched earthworks dividing the areas may be contemporary field boundaries. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
