Summary
A curvilinear bank and ditched enclosure is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs in fields to the east of The Down House, Blandford St Mary. The enclosure is located at ST 87629 04854 and is associated with a small scatter of internal pit features. It is likely to be a settlement enclosure and is considered likely to be of Iron Age (or possibly earlier) origin. It lies within a larger rectilinear multi-ditched enclosure and is associated with fragments of a wider ditched field system. It was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.

Full Description
A curvilinear bank and ditched enclosure is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs in fields to the east of The Down House, Blandford St Mary <1-4>. The enclosure is 110m across and located at ST 87629 04854; and is associated with a small scatter of internal pit features. It is likely to be a settlement enclosure and is considered likely to be of Iron Age (or possibly earlier) origin. It lies within a larger rectilinear multi-ditched enclosure and is associated with fragments of a wider ditched field system. Thefeatures cover an area of 30 hectares and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.
