The site of a Second World War military camp is visible as extant structures on RAF aerial photographs taken in 1947 within the grounds of The Down House, Blandford St Mary. It comprises a group of 36 buildings under what is now woodland to the east of the house - many of which are still visible as extant features on lidar imagery. To the south and south west of the buildings are several contemporary enclosures possibly formed by fencing or barbed wire - these have since been removed. The function of this miltary site is not known, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
