Monument record MDO45929 - Probable post medieval to modern cultivation marks, Hill Farm, Corfe Mullen

Please read our .

Summary

Areas of ridged cultivation to the south of Hill Farm, Corfe Mullen, are visible as faint earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. Although in an area where medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow is apparent, these features may be cultivation marks of potentially post medieval to early 20th century date, although an earlier origin cannot be ruled out. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

Areas of ridged cultivation to the south of Hill Farm, Corfe Mullen, are visible as faint earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. Although in an area where medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow is apparent, these features appear crisper and perhaps more regular in character - they may be cultivation marks of potentially post medieval to early 20th century date, although an earlier origin cannot be ruled out.
