Full Description
The cropmark remains of a probable Iron Age/Roman field system are visible centred at approximately SY 8127 9607 on aerial photographs. The field boundary ditches are probably an extension of those already recorded in the adjacent fields to the north-east (in UID 455864).
Additionally, three probable quarry pits of uncertain date are visible as earthworks. Two of the pits are visible within the same field as the field boundaries described above. One pit cuts the ditch of a field boundary suggesting a later uncertain date. The third pit can be seen in the adjacent field to the south-east and is recorded on the OS map.
These features are visible on aerial photographs taken by English Heritage in 2006 as part of the Reconnaissance Recording Programme. <1>
