Monument record MDO46054 - Possible Roman road, Corfe Mullen
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A long straight and regular linear banked feature to the west of Corfe Mullen is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on a 1945 aerial photograph and on current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature extends southeast to northwest across several historic fields for over 600m and appears to run below the historic field boundaries. It is possible that the feature may be an unidentified section of Roman road, or alternatively a trackway of medieval or earlier date. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
