Monument record MDO46168 - Middle Bronze Age settlement, Milldown, Blandford Forum
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Excavation by Cotswold Archaeology in 2015 following two phases of evaluation in advance of development revealed two sides of a Middle Bronze Age ditched enclosure, a relatively short-lived settlement. Pottery from the site was representative of the Deverel-Rimbury tradition dating to around 1600-1000 BC. Some plant remains were recovered, and suggested processing of plant remains within the enclosure. Animal remains indicated rearing of cattle and sheep/goats.
