It is 8m across and considered likely to be a post medieval chalk pit. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

A small hollow is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery in the field corner immediately to the west of Keepers Cottage, Winterborne Whitechurch <1>.
