Monument record MDO4634 - 8 Church Lane, Shaftesbury: human skull, possibly a grave, undated

Summary
The finding of a fragmentary, but nearly complete, human skull at 8 Church Lane was reported in 1976. The skull was said to have been found at a depth of around three feet below the level of the house, itself around 3ft below the level of the garden. The skull was said to be 200 to 300 years old, presumably on the basis of the dentition.
The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.
