A ditched and banked linear feature to the southwest of Stag Gate Wood, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs and current Environment lidar imagery. The feature runs from the southwest side of the field to the northeast side and strikes a line through a row of probable Bronze Age barrows. It runs across and perpendicular to linear banked earthworks associated with a probable later prehistoric field system. The feature is likely to be a trackway, either of later prehistoric date, or alternatively medieval to post medieval date. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
