Summary
A post medieval extractive pit to the northwest of Higher Combe Farm, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is marked but not named on the OS 1st Edition map but is considered likely to be an old chalk pit. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

A post medieval extractive pit to the northwest of Higher Combe Farm, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature is marked but not named on the OS 1st Edition map but is considered likely to be an old chalk pit [3]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
