It is marked as an unanotated hollow on the OS 3rd Edition map and considered likely to be a post medieval chalk pit. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

A large hollow is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery centrally within the parish of Anderson to the south of the course of the Roman Road <1>.
