A post medieval to mid 20th century extractive pit to the south of Mapperton, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is recorded as a gravel pit on an OS map dated 1955. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

A post medieval to mid 20th century extractive pit to the south of Mapperton, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature is recorded as a gravel pit on an OS map dated 1955 [3]. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
