Summary

An indented hollow on the east side of of a water channel linking into the River Winterborne to the southeast of the World's End, Morden, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Environment Agency Lidar imagery. The feature is shown but not named on the OS 1st Edition map and could be a post medieval pond, possibly derived from a former extractive pit - there is a large gravel pit (MDO46760) close by to the north. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

An indented hollow on the east side of of a water channel linking into the River Winterborne to the southeast of the World's End, Morden, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Environment Agency Lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature is shown but not named on the OS 1st Edition map [3] and could be a post medieval pond, possibly derived from a former extractive pit - there is a large gravel pit (MDO46760) close by to the north. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
