Summary
A post medieval extractive pit to the north of West Morden, Morden, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is recorded as a chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map and as an old chalk pit on an OS map dated 1955. A smaller extractive pit to the north is visible on current lidar imagery that appears to be an extension of the extractive area to the south. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the north of West Morden, Morden, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature is recorded as a chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition pit and as an old chalk pit on an OS map dated 1955 [2, 3]. A smaller extractive map to the north is visible on current lidar imagery that appears to be an extension of the extractive area to the south [4]. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
