Full Description
The Manor of Ham is shown in the vicinity of Ham Common on a map of 1624. <1>
Hutchins refers to Ham as the second of 'the obscure' parishes mentioned by Coker, and that it lay south-east of Gillingham and south of the Stow. Ham Common may indicate its former presence. <2>
'Somewhat below Gillingham, Stower, entertaining a little Brooke that cometh from Meere in Wiltshire, passeth betweene Bagley and Ham, two little obscure parishes which nevertheless emporte names to two antient Families.' <3>
