Summary

Sections of broken linear banked features to the west of Sandy Lane, Lytchett Matravers, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features correspond with the site of a small farmstead of probable post medieval date, recorded but not named on the OS 1st Edition map. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

Sections of broken linear banked features to the west of Sandy Lane, Lytchett Matravers, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features comprise of probable field boundary and boundary banks that correspond with the site of a small farmstead of probable post medieval date, recorded but not named on the OS 1st Edition map [2]. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The features are no longer visible on 2021 APGB imagery.
