Monument record MDO47072 - Civil War ditch, Trinity Street, Dorchester
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
During observations of a conduit in 1914, a V-shaped ditch, 7 feet wide at the top, 7 feet deep, and 1 foot 6 inches wide at the bottom was observed. It is thought to be associated with the Civil War defences of Dorchester, and is similar to a feature of Civil War date on Maumbury Rings. Possibly a communications trench.
