Full Description

According to Hutchins, this was anciently a manor and hamlet, probably that Frome, mentioned under Dorchester, as at the foot of "Terra Regis". It became part of the Manor of Fordington, held of the Duchy of Lancaster. Hutchins records two dwellings in his time. <1> Whitfield Farmhouse, a 17th century two-storeyed building of stone rubble with thatched roof. There is a small wing on the east. <3>
