Full Description
(SY 78099642) Turnpike House. The Harnham, Blandford and Dorchester Turnpike Trust, set up by an Act of 1753-4, had a toll-gate at Dewlish.
At Dewlish Down, south-east of the village, a dwelling which may have been the toll-house still stands at the awkward bend
in the road. Under a renewing Act of 1818-19, the Dewlish gate was replaced by one at Fordington Moor.
