Summary
A Bronze Age barrow on Piddlehinton Down, excavated by C Hall, containing an urned cremation beneath a flint cairn. The location of this barrow is uncertain, field investigations and examination of aerial photographs have recorded no traces of a barrow.

Full Description
Urn found "in the parish of Piddlehinton, in flints. It was full of ashes ..." <1>
A barrow on Piddlehinton Down, excavated by Chas Hall contained an urn 9" high beneath a cairn. A bi-conical Middle/Late Bronze Age urn with lugs, probably the one referred to in authority 1. <2>
The location of Piddlehinton Down was not identified during field investigation in the area. The local Tithe Map merely describes a field centred at SY 706969 as "down". There was no sign of a barrow in this area, which was under grass. <3>
An unidentified barrow opened by C. Hall on Piddlehinton Down, contained an urn beneath a flint cairn. <4>
Piddlehinton Down, a roadway extending from SY 685960 to SY 715971. (There is no trace of a barrow in the fields adjoining the roadway on RAF air photographs. CPE/UK 2475/3219-24 of 9.3.48). <5>
