Summary
The brewery was leased to Charles and Sarah Eldridge in 1837. Sarah took over the brewery following the death of Charles in 1846 and she appointed Alfred Mason as manager. In 1850 the partnership of Eldridge and Mason was formed. In 1854 the brewery acquired the Pale Ale Brewery in the High Street. A number of changes to the partner and company name took place until 1871 when the company became Eldridge, Pope and Company following the involvement of Alfred Pope. The brewery closed in 1880 following construction of the new brewery in Weymouth Avenue. The brewery included a double malthouse of two 30-quarter steeps which was built in 1867.This was demolished in 1969 to make way for an extension of the Old Market Car Park.

Recorded by NRIM. Site of double malthouse of two 30-quarter steeps built in 1867 by E and A Pope (now Eldridge Pope) in connection with Green Dragon Brewery. Ceased in 1949 and demolished in 1969 to make way for an extension of the Old Market Car Park. Photographed. (1)
